Cherry Blossoms, Torii Gates and a Classic Mini

Earlier this spring, during a quiet drive through rural Hyogo, we were searching for the last cherry blossoms of the season.

Quite by accident, we discovered a small Inari shrine hidden among the mountains — a place filled with vermilion torii gates, an emerald pond and a peaceful countryside atmosphere.

It felt like a secret spot perfectly suited for a classic Mini.

At the end of the torii gate tunnel, the Mini waits quietly.

It was early April in Hyogo.  On the way back from a well-known classic Mini café in Nishiwaki, we were still searching for the last cherry blossoms of the season.

The view opens up to early-spring mountains and an emerald pond, where gentle ripples move across the water. A small shrine rests quietly by its edge.

A narrow path led upward, where a row of vermilion torii gates came into view.

The tunnel of torii gates felt reminiscent of Kyoto’s famous Fushimi Inari Shrine.
Later I learned that this place is known as Oka Inari Shrine, sometimes called a “Mini Fushimi Inari.”

Through the trees, a jade-colored pond appears. Gentle ripples move across the surface as birdsong fills the air — a quiet moment that feels deeply calming.

Surrounded by nature, the Mini seems to wear a gentle expression.

The ground is covered with fallen cherry blossom petals.
Parking the Mini here felt like a moment of calm.

The doors open wide, letting fresh countryside air fill the cabin.

This hidden place — Oka Inari Shrine, known for its hundred cherry trees — was discovered by chance.

Perhaps the Mini led us here.
